Neuere Zündmodule (Zündmodul - Phase I.1 und Zündmodul - Phase II) besitzen einen eingebauten Funktionstest, welcher entweder im Menü (Phase II) oder bequem über SkyConductor (Zündsystem -> Module verwalten -> Rechtsklick auf Eintrag, Auswahl "Modultest starten") ausgeführt werden kann. Das Ergebnis kann je nach verwendeter Methode direkt über SkyConductor, ein Terminalprogramm (Port-Einstellungen 57600 Baud, keine Parität, ein Stoppbit) oder direkt am Display des Moduls abgelesen werden.

Der Modultest darf nur ausgeführt werden, wenn die Kanal-Anschlussklemmen nicht verbunden sind!

In dieser Sektion folgt eine genaue Erklärung der einzelnen Schritte des Modultests mit der Angabe der einzelnen geprüften Parameter und ihrer Bedeutung.

CAN-Test

In diesem Test versucht das Zündmodul, sein eigenes Echo beim Schreiben auf den Modulbus zu empfangen bzw. dieses Echo über die Aktivierung der Modulbus-Standby-Leitung zu unterdrücken.

Betriebsspannungs-Test

Dieser Test dient zur Überprüfung der gemessenen Betriebsspannungen:

Zunächst wird die Spannung auf der Hauptzündleitung überprüft. Dies geschieht eine Sekunde nachdem die Kurzschlussschaltung deaktiviert worden ist. Die Spannung sollte sich, da das System nicht scharf geschaltet ist, immer noch in der Nähe von 0 cV bewegen. Der Grenzwert beträgt 50 cV.

Zur Information wird hier die gemessene Batteriespannung (kalibriert und unkalibriert) ausgegeben. Wenn das Zündmodul nicht kalibriert wurde, sind beide Werte identisch. In Klammern wird der interne Kalibrierungswert, welcher der mit der aktuellen Kalibrierung maximal messbaren Betriebsspannung in cV entspricht, angezeigt.

Tasten- und Display-Test

Je nachdem von wo der Modultest ausgelöst wurde, wird nun der Tastentest durchgeführt. Wenn der Modultest aus der Ferne gestartet wurde, wird dieser Test übersprungen damit keine Benutzereingabe für den Test erforderlich ist. Während dieser Test durchgeführt wird, müssen nacheinander die ON, OK, UP und DOWN-Tasten betätigt werden sofern vorhanden. Die Funktion der Tasten wird auf dem Display und im Protokoll quittiert. Sollte eine Taste nicht funktionieren so kann, wenn der Test trotzdem fortgesetzt werden soll, die ON-Taste benutzt werden um die Taste zu überspringen. Im Anschluss an die Tasten-Tests wird das Backlight (verschiedene Farben wenn möglich) und das Display getestet indem verschiedene Muster angezeigt werden. Das Ergebnis dieses Tests ist nur optisch am Display selbst zu erkennen.

Im o.A. Beispiel wurde der Tasten- und Displaytest übersprungen, die Meldung lautet daher:
